For Japan the average age of its citizens is 48. He told that for India to take advantage of this demographic dividend, one of the most important thing is to concentrate on education, more particularly school education, to develop the learning skills of the school children. He pointed out that Education happens to be one of the important sector of budget allocation of the Govts and wanted it to be used well. He pointed out that Govt schools attracts more number of students considering the bare minimum fee charged by it. He exhorted every one in the society to work/support towards providing quality education to children as it was everyone’s responsibility, including the Govt and its officials.
Other guests including the Chief Educational officer of Kanchipuram District, the Zonal Manager of the Indian Bank and CSR advisor of Cholamandalam MS General Insurance also spoke on the ocassion and shared their valuable suggestions and advises. The children of the Thirusoolam Govt school gave a superb dance performance. LED TV sets were distributed to adopted schools to support the Audio-visual aided learning for the children.
Though the Govt spends huge amount of money to School education, our performance haven’t been up to the mark. Pratham, a NGO, releases an Annual Status of Education report.
